Charming and convenient, loved it!
Our weekend was wonderful. Just the right amount of space in a convenient location with friendly and accommodating hosts. Some things I loved - a well-appointed kitchen, abundant towels, the gas fireplace, the coffee. We were looking for restaurant recommendations for gluten-free eating and were thrilled with our hosts' suggestions. I would go back in a heartbeat!

Wonderful, quiet cabin with great location
Highly recommended. We stayed at the cabin for 6 nights over the New Year holiday on a ski trip and really enjoyed the space. Northstar is just a 10 minute drive, and restaurants, groceries, and even discount ski rentals are just minutes away, making logistics very simple. Someone left ski pants under a couch by mistake and John had them in the mail next day, which shows how attentive they are. Thanks again.

Very clean, well kept and comfortable place.
Ideal place for a small family within walking distance of the beach and short drive from a ski resort. Hosts are very hospitable and were attentive to my needs. They even offered to make a bed for us since we arrived late in the evening. The lights and heat were on. Good set of kitchenware - and I've seen places with just one old rusty pan! All kitchen appliances are clean and new. Good supply of paper towels, soap etc. I stayed there twice and certainly will plan to stay again when I am in the area.

Practically Perfect in Every Way
This beautiful cabin lacks for nothing. Absolutely everything you could possibly need or want has been provided. It is cozy, comfortable and the kitchen is fully equipped. It even has a waffle iron. The location is quiet and close to wonderful hiking, kayaking and some good restaurants. We go to Tahoe every year and have always stayed in lovely places but this was the best. The owners are friendly, thorough and knowlegable about the area. We can't wait to return to Tahoe Woodside.

If we could give John and Lisa 10 stars, we would!
Our stay at Tahoe Woodside was the perfect way to enjoy Labor Day weekend! John and Lisa were two of the kindest, most accommodating, and helpful individuals we could have asked for in welcoming us to North Tahoe, and gave us plenty of ideas for things to do in the area. Their cabin, Tahoe Woodside, was homey and cozy, with plenty of space for my boyfriend and I to enjoy a long weekend. We'll definitely be back!

Great cabin in a fantastic location
This cabin was a great find. It's obvious that the owners have put a lot of thought into making their guests' stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, providing almost everything that you could need. The location is also excellent - beach, grocery store, restaurants and bars all within a few minutes walk, and yet it's still very peaceful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Thanks John and Lisa!

Felt like home
This is a very comfortable little cottage with wonderful sky lights which make it bright and airy. The bedroom and bathroom upstairs are spacious and immaculate. We really loved the bed! There were many little touches, too, that we appreciated, such as the huge thick towels. The living room is cozy and would be especially nice in the winter, but in the summer we spent as much time as possible on the porch, the terrace or the swing in the backyard looking onto the golf course. The location is very convenient to either walk or drive to the lake, shopping and restaurants. Can't wait to go back!

Home Away from Home
Totally admit that I was a little nervous about a lake side vacation, but the gf was adamant I would like it and she was right! There is so much to do around Lake Tahoe in the summer that one week does not do the area justice at all. Our two story home from home at Tahoe Vista (adjacent to Kings Beach) was the ideal place for our annual vacation. This vacation rental has everything you could need and more. The usual things like a fully equipment kitchen, internet, huge satellite TV but also extra's that added to the feel of the place was a huge comfy leather sofa, your own small garden with BBQ, great sky lights in the bedroom, stair case and even above the shower (natural light shower, go figure) all wrapped up in a wood cabin house. The owners, very friendly couple, live in the adjacent house and are available at the end of a phone, plus they have great tips for hikes, things to do, best places to eat etc. (they recommend Soule Domain, great restaurant). This is one of three rental properties they offer in the area.Another great plus, is that you are in walking distance of Safeways, the beach, the restaurants etc., if you do not fancy driving anywhere. While you are walking distance of these amenities, you are well away from the hustle and bustle of tourists flocking around the center of Kings Beach. What is more, the pricing of this rental are very reasonable for the area, especially if staying for a good period of time. Nothing that detracts from a 5 star rating here at all! Will admit we have a serious power shower at home and I often miss this when staying away from home in hotels, bed and breakfasts. The shower in the rental was totally fine just not a power shower....the skylight shower though had me wondering how much it was add to the value of my home. I was pleased just to have a washer and dryer for us to use, but should point out that this is located in the bedroom - while this may sound strange we did not find this a problem at all, just means that you avoid trying to wash clothes early in morning or late at night. It was great to bring home clean clothes for once as opposed to cases full of laundry. As you can see we were struggling to find anything much negative to say to balance our positive view of this rental and vacation. Like any good vacation, this one has us wondering when we will get the chance to go back and visit the places we missed on this last trip. If we do go back, hopefully we will be able to rent the same place again!

Easy, uncomplicated R&R
This was our first extended stay in North Tahoe so we can not compare to other properties listed on this site but here are the pluses: Lisa and John, the owners - Gracious, warm, full of suggestions for things to do and ready with answers to our many questions. Sent us off to some great local Farmer's Markets. John quickly dealt with a slow draining tub. Lisa was quick to respond to e-mails and helped us find dates that would work for a very last minute trip. Location - Anything we wanted to do was within an easy drive. The cabin is within walking distance of a beach for lounging in the water (be forewarned, very busy on summer weekends but we didn't mind because we enjoy people watching). You can park your car early morning at one beach nearby (parking lots fill up early) and walk back to the cabin for breakfast knowing you have all your water toys and ice chest ready for a day on the beach. Grocery store close by. Nice residential neighborhood. Cabin - Super comfortable. We felt like we were at home. Kitchen well equipped and nice patio for grilling (there is a little bit of traffic noise from Hi-way 267 when on the patio but for most people this won't be an issue and you never hear anything from inside the house). I thought this space would be too much house for just two of us but it was perfect. I am the early riser and could hang out in the cozy living room while my spouse was upstairs sleeping. I could see a family with a teenager giving the living room over to their child and a friend for an evening slumber party while the parents had the quiet upstairs. If you are going here we recommend catching an event at Sand Harbor Beach outdoor theater (we saw the Nevada Chamber Orchestra) and packing a lunch for the trek down to Emerald Bay to see Vikingsholm. Every where great kayaking!

A Gem in North Lake Tahoe
We have stayed at this wonderful cosy, comfortable and clean cabin for three winter vacations and have found it to be perfect. It has all the amenities to make for a perfect stay. It is very close to the beach, grocery store, and restaurants. Within a short drive there are wonderful ski resorts, NorthStar, Squaw and Alpine Meadows being our favorites. I have no hesitation to say that you too would find this rustic cosy cabin to be the perfect place to stay.

Best vacation ever!
Woodside cabin was perfect for my husband and I. A very spacious, clean, warm place. Very close to the beach and shoppings. We enjoyed it so much! We were also invited by Lisa and John (owners) for a hike to their favorite spot, and it was great. We went to Lake Tahoe between the seasons, but it was perfect for us. We would like to come back to this beautiful place. Thank you Lisa and John for a great vacation!

Great location for a summer vacation!
We came to Tahoe Vista in the summer, arriving July 4th, in fact. John and Lisa were very welcoming, even inviting my husband and me to join them on a hike to their favorite place from which to view fireworks. What a magical night, and such a great introduction to Tahoe Vista. From that point on, they were careful to give us plenty of privacy, which more than made up for the wall we shared with their residence. (Since it was the stairwell's wall, the most we ever heard was a commode flushing, and that was only when we were in the bathroom.) The beautiful, spotless cabin was fully stocked with just about anything we needed, including (o joy!) a washer and dryer. When my brother arrived and needed only a fan for sleeping to make his stay perfect, John and Lisa lugged over one of their own big fans and made sure it was set up properly and running. As for location, it is an easy walk of a half mile from the main street where buses run and the beach (great kayaking!) but tucked away at the end of a street so that it's quiet and peaceful. If you're wondering about the weather in the summer, it was perfect: warm, sunny days and cool nights. The only negatives were the loose commode lid and weak shower stream, both of which can be easily fixed. But yes, we would come back and yes, we would definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative.

The Woodside is Charming and Comfortable!
This is a beautiful, well-maintained, and meticulously clean cabin in a beautiful resort community. Very cozy and its tasteful furnishings make you feel right at home. The kitchen is completely stocked with everything you would need to make nice meals if you choose to stay in. We loved the quality bed linens and the bed was very comfortable to sleep on. Stunning pines and firs surround the site and we could walk to the beach. The owners are lovely people who go the extra mile to see that their guests are comfortable and that things are in order. We really appreciated their helpfulness. Guests of any age will enjoy their stay in this wonderful home, which I recommend without reservation. - Fabulous Tahoe Woodside -
Back for our second stay at Tahoe Woodside and it was just as good as last time. The cottage is cosy and warm, and the little extras provided by John and Lisa are especially appreciated. Having our own washer and dryer was great, kitchen is well equipped and there is a large fridge/freezer, microwave and full stove. Wi-fi and multi channel cable tv as well. We had lots and lots of snow during our stay which made it such a fun time for us as we came from Australia to visit our son. We highly recommend this quiet well equipped cottage, and we are hoping to come back to experience Tahoe in the summer.

A great place to be!
This February, my family of three enjoyed a very relaxed stay at the Woodside. In real, the cottage looks exactly like shown at the pictures. It is very well equipped, cozy and warm. The owners live adjacently, but gave us the privacy we needed and took care for having us digged out of 5 feet of fresh snow 😉 By the way, the organic bread they shared with us was delicious. We would love to come back next year. Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Sightseeing, Age 55+, Romantic Getaway, Families with Teenagers.

Perfect Location - Comfortable Charm
On arrival at Tahoe Woodside we were met by the charming owner who then gave us a complete rundown of the cottage features. It is cosy and warm and well equipped, including WIFI, and a great gas fire and washer and dryer. It is also walking distance to the local supermarket and beautiful Lake Tahoe, it is also ideally located, close to a number of ski fields if you are planning a winter visit. We loved our stay and have booked the cottage again for next year.Recommended for: Families with Young Children, Sightseeing, Tourists without a Car, Adventure Seekers, Age 55+, Romantic Getaway, Families with Teenagers.

Don't miss out on this cabin!
This a good news, bad news review. The good news is that the Woodside is an absolutely perfect hideaway for a relaxing, romantic vacation. The cabin is exactly as described. It is spotlessly clean, well maintained, and the owners are delightful and easy to work with. It looks over the second hole of the Old Brockway golf course so it has a beautiful, private view from the garden. The bedroom is cozy and comfortable with beautiful linens and a sink-in-and-fall-asleep duvet. With only a short walk to the beach from the property, you cannot go wrong staying at the Woodside. And the bad news? It was bad news for us--we only had three nights to spend at this lovely cabin!

Pinewood Reviews

Perfect little gem!
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Tahoe Pinewood cabin over Memorial Day weekend to not only explore the nature and wonders of Lake Tahoe but also to get away from our busy daily life. We had a wonderful time and the cabin most definitively played a crucial role. We felt so comfortable that we looked forward to returning back to it every single day. A big plus was the extremely well equipped kitchen, the fresh coffee beans and the grill outside being a lovely extra touch which we took full advantage off. The whole space is arranged with love and has many cute details. Lisa&John, the owners, made sure we had everything we needed and we perceived them as caring and lovely people. We would definitively stay again. Thanks for having us!

Ski Trip to Tahoe
We had a lovely stay at Pinewood. Proximity to Northstar and Diamond Peak ski resorts was terrific. Less than a 15 minute drive to either one. The cabin is just a 10 minute walk to the heart of downtown Kings Beach, while maintaining a private cabin in the woods feel. Owner is very knowledgeable of the area and accommodating of all our needs. Highly reccommend!

Amazing home in an even more amazing area!
My girlfriend and I just stayed here and it met all our expectations and some! Amazing location to everything in North Lake Tahoe. 10-12 minute short drive up the road to Northstar ski resort. Nearby hikes all around with amazing views in all directions. The home itself was wonderful for 2 people. Kitchen was fully stocked with anything you needed to cook with. Amazing fire place/furnace to keep warm at night. Highly recommend to others if you want to fully experience North Lake Tahoe but also want a cozy getaway. Can't wait to come back!!

Cozy cabin with great location and friendly hosts
Tahoe Pinewood is a great spot for a couple to stay while exploring beautiful north shore of the Lake. It's within walking distance of beaches and restaurants, nicely furnished and very clean. The kitchen is very well-equipped and even has what you need to make your own espresso and lattes. John and Lisa are great hosts! Would definitely return.

Excellent vacation in a great cabin!
My husband and I spent a wonderful week in this charming rustic house. The cabin is small but the space is so amazingly well organized and equipped that, while having completely everything needed, you never feel cramped, not for a minute. Cozy and very comfortable, just perfect for two people! It has a beautiful patio, great for a morning coffee (provided fresh coffee beans and stove-top espresso maker was just something!) and an evening star watching. The place is so quiet and private, yet conveniently located in a walking distance from the lake shore, the main roads and the grocery store (which was quite helpful as we preferred to cook by ourselves). It was also a pleasure to meet the owners who live right next door - very welcoming, friendly, helpful, responsive, absolutely wonderful people. All I can say, we were lucky to find this home for our Tahoe vacation. Lisa and John, thank you so much for your hospitality! We really look forward to coming back!

The perfect cabin in the woods
We were looking for an escape from our busy life and found Pinewood. The location was within walking distance of nearly everything: restaurants, the beach, lake swimming, golf, with Nevada casinos a few miles away. The owners, Lisa and John, suggested a beautiful short hike with outstanding vistas of Kings Beach and beyond, across the twenty-two mile long Lake Tahoe . But most of all, Pinewood was the ideal hideaway for us to sleep late, eat a leisurely breakfast, and relax. We hope to return someday.

Wonderful
This place is like a tiny house with all the all the things you need. Was at a perfect location to walk to store, Italian restaurant, golf if you like it. We could take a nice walk to Kings beach. Was very easy to get around from this location. Costco was only a 40 min drive to Reno or Carson City but cheaper gas at the Carson City location and closer to freeway. John and Lisa are wonderful host. Thanks again John and Lisa for all you do for your tenants that come and stay. Coffee is great!!!!!! Rob & Frankie

Great experience!
We found this listing on line and had some questions before booking. John made contact with us almost immediately and answered our questions. Prior to arriving we were sent our deposit receipt and very detailed directions to the cabin. The cabin itself was perfect. We loved having a full kitchen along with every other convenience. The place was clean and orderly and just right for the two of us. John also met us at the cabin when we first arrived to give us detailed instructions and excellent local trail and restaurant suggestions. In all, a very positive experience.

Perfect summer get away!
My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights at the end of August for an anniversary trip. It was the perfect place for the 2 of us to get away! This cabin was fully equipped and just what we were looking for. The owners live next door and were very helpful in offering advice for the best hikes, beaches, restaurants, etc in the area. We enjoyed nearby activities such as hiking, fly fishing, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, and parasailing. Hope to go back in the future!

Relaxing & comfortable getaway
My husband & I stayed at the Tahoe Vista for 6 days in the Fall & loved it. We found the cabin to be inviting & comfortable. The owners were very helpful in giving us ideas of what to do while on our trip. They told us about the best hiking spots in town & the best places to grab a lunch to take on our hikes. They also told us about all of the local farmers markets, which we loved! The cabin was clean & very well stocked with cooking supplies. It made for a very relaxing & fun vacation spot!

Surpassed all expectations ...
My goal in renting the Pinewood cabin was simple - get off the grid and drop out of my everyday life for a bit. The cabin, the lake and the owners all helped deliver on that goal, and frankly, smashed even my wildest expectations. It was spotless and had everything you'd need and more. The owners have missed nothing in preparing a haven for their guests. I've always loved Tahoe, but renting the cabin and the peace and quiet, and privacy, that came with it was so good for the soul. None of the noise and hustle-and-bustle of a hotel - just quiet, and the chance to absorb the area's spiritual energy, if you're open to such ideas. After a few minutes talking with owners Lisa and John, I felt like we'd been friends forever. This was a remarkably unique experience, and one I hope to repeat very soon. If you want to drop out of The Rat Race for a while and just go with the flow, this is the place for you - solo or with your significant other, it's truly a what R&R is meant to be.

Couldn't have felt more at home!
This little gem of a cottage was perfect for me and husband to stay a week. We love to cook, and Lisa and John thought of everything a cook away from their own kitchen might need. Lisa even taught us how to make our own espressos, which the kitchen is equipped for. Preparing meals on the vintage Wedgewood stove felt like a treat. After long days on the lake we relaxed and grilled outside in the charming front yard. The cottage was immaculately cleaned before our arrival, the towels were plentiful and soft, and the bed is way more comfortable than my own at home. We are already looking for any reason to return to the Pinewood in Tahoe.

Great Tahoe Cabin!
Highly recommend staying in this cozy King's Beach cabin! The hosts were so welcoming and very responsive, even giving directions to their favorite hike near-by. Perfect Getaway Cabin!
My friend and I really enjoyed this cabin which is fairly priced and has everything you will need for a relaxing stay. It is clean, well-located and big enough for two or three. The owners live right next door and are very friendly and helpful, yet not invasive of one's privacy. As others have mentioned, the mattress is very soft, so if you like a firm mattress, use the automatically inflatable air bed. I used it and found it very comfortable. My friend liked the queen-sized bed. I recommend you stay at this cabin because it's a perfect getaway cabin in a gorgeous area.

Better than expected!
This was our first experience renting a cabin. My husband and I just wanted something quant. This more than met our expectations. The property is very clean and well stocked with many necessities. The owners are wonderful people and we enjoyed them very much. I would recommend this property to any couple that just wants something cozy and cute. We went to the 4th of July crafts fair, which is in walking distance. Grocery store is within walking distance also. When we return to Lake Tahoe, we will definitely rent from these owners again. Our stay at the Tahoe Pinewood was wonderful.

Quiet, inexpensive getaway
My fiance and I stayed here for three nights for a ski weekend. I have very high standards when it comes to cleanliness and I was satisfied. I could tell that they do deep cleaning here. The hardwood floors that run throughout the kitchen and bathroom are in good condition. The decor is rustic/country-like so if you prefer a more modern, sleek decor this place isn't for you. For cooks, the ceramic stove and gas grill were in good condition. The kitchen was stocked with pots and pans, as well as coffee and tea. We found the comfort of the bed to be OK. The linens were OK, too. This could be that we're used to staying in four star hotels with high quality linens and extremely comfy beds. This is a studio-like apartment. By the third night I did feel a little claustrophobic. My fiance did not. Overall, I would recommend if you're looking for a quiet, low-key, private, inexpensive, ski weekend. One more thing, the shower space was small so if you're similar in size to say James Gandolfini or Kathy Bates, it won't be a comfortable experience.

PERFECT!!!!!
I reserved this cabin with a image in mind and when we arrived it was everything I had imagined. Although there were houses right next door, it was incredibly quiet and tucked back off the road. The store was close so we could get groceries to make dinner and the owner was incredible. She gave us ideas of what hikes to do around the area. I highly recommend this cabin. It really was everything I had picture for our first vacation together alone.

Rustic Cabin Gem
The Pinewood Cabin provides a rustic and very comfortable setting for exploring Lake Tahoe. The online photos accurately reflect the appearance of the space. The cabin is well-maintained and well-stocked with every convenience of home; equipped kitchen, lots of bath towels, even a washer and dryer! The owners are perfect hosts; sharing information about their favorite local hikes and attractions. Visiting Lake Tahoe after the Labor Day holiday weekend was just perfect; beautiful weather and very few crowds. The highlights of our site-seeing were visiting the Thunderbird Lodge and Squaw Valley tram and hiking trails. Betty and Wooly Alameda, CA.

Private & Cozy Cabin, But Close to All
We had an excellent stay at Pinewood while visiting the Lake Tahoe area. The owners are exceptional hosts and go out of their way to make you feel at home, from presenting their own organic bread to a healthy supply of organic coffee beans, grinder and expresso pot and a whole array of spices to cook with. The cabin is tucked back in a private little wooded spot off a small, quiet residential street and is very well shaded from the hot summer sun. Golfing is just up the same street as well as a 24/7 grocery store - all within a 5 minute walk, as well as the public beach which we really enjoyed. Main highways are close by for easy access to all the area attractions. The cabin has all you need for comforts (and then some), and even though it's small, we did not feel cramped at all. If you're looking for down-home practical, affordable, clean and cozy accommodations, this is the spot for you!

Beautiful, homely cottage in great Tahoe location
The cottage was great, everything we could ask for. Its cozy feel is perfect for couples who are looking for a home away from home. It was warm, cute and comfortable and though on the smaller side we never felt cramped. Great shower, bed, kitchen amenities, gas fire. Everything was provided we couldn't have asked for anything more. It really made our trip to Tahoe so special. The almost lakefront location is excellent too as you can access a number of great ski fields in the winter and lake activities in summer. There is also a good variety of shops and restaurants nearby and the owners Lisa and John were so helpful with their advice and recommendations on places to visit and things to do in the area. They made us feel right at home and you can clearly see the love and attention to detail they have put into making the cottage so homely and inviting. This place is great for just taking time out and unwinding, or for those seeking outdoor adventure. It has everything right on the doorstep. We are already planning our next trip we loved it so much.

Happy Days
We had a happy time in this little cosy cottage. Everything was there .. a fully equipped kitchen etc.. Nice for travelers like us that like to do our own cooking. Small and spacey at the same time.. the help of the owners next door was very nice, showing us nice hikes, good information on Lake Tahoe and very friendly welcome. And it was spotless clean! Whenever ur path goes trough lake Tahoe again we certainly will come back to this cottage. Greetje and Alexander, the Netherlands

Tahoe Pinewood Studio Cabin
Our week at the Pinewood surpassed our expectations. It is both comfortable and very peaceful. Our hosts were very hospitable and gracious, and this made us feel at home. Our time at North Tahoe was a memorable one for my daughter and I. The convenience of the lake, and all the shopping amentities made it even more enjoyable. At the Pinewood we were able to prepare our own meals, as well as enjoy the fine restaurants which are also close by. Nevada is minutes away, and has much to offer as well. This was by far our best vacation. We are planning to return, and make the Pinewood our home away from home. Its location also makes it easy to get to, in all kinds of weather. North Tahoe has it all, especially at the Pinewood! 🙂

Relax and Recharge at Pinewood
I could sit here and tell you about all the amenities, like the cozy fireplace and thick, plush, comfy bed. I could mention that the lake and the shops and restaurants are only minutes away. But all that stuff is on the Pinewood web page. What I'm here to tell you about is the way Pinewood makes you feel. Uninhibited, unpressured, complete amnesia from the fast-paced life back home. The things you can only feel when ambiance is promoting, encouraging you to unwind. Every detail, every comfort has been so well thought out, that from the moment you arrive there is nothing to do BUT relax. The neighborhood is "Pin-drop" quiet at night, and the neighbors are country friendly. We've frequented many "Cozy cabins" over the years, but very, very few have made me yearn to own one just like it. Pinewood is definitely one of those few. It'll make you dream of retirement in the mountains. Our memories will surely last until next year when we return.

Delightful, Cozy Getaway!
My husband and I stayed here during a week-long mountain biking vacation. It was completely delightful! Beautifully equipped and cozy, the cabin had everything we needed and more. It's tucked away in a forested neighborhood walking distance to shops, restaurants and the beach, yet you're still in the woods. Close to major ski areas, great hiking, mountain biking & kayaking (and space for your gear, too!) Quiet & private, with nicely maintained grounds. The owners are very friendly & helpful. A perfect getaway for a couple or a couple of friends. We can't wait to come back!
